A community of volunteers working to humanely reduce the feral cat population in Steelton Borough and Swatara & Susquehanna Townships.

SCC works to reduce the over-population of free-roaming cats through its TNR (Trap/Neuter/Return) program. More than 1600 cats have been cared for in this program since 2010. Community cats (also known as feral cats) live outside with other cats in colonies or groups, and are generally not friendly to people. Our volunteers help colony caretakers in Steelton, Derry Township, Swatara Township, and Highspire by humanely trapping the cats, providing them with food, shelter, medical care, vaccinations, and spay/neuter surgeries before returning them to their colonies. The program not only reduces the over-population problem, but it reduces the spread of diseases like FIV and rabies, which it saves the municipalities money. To register your colony or ask questions call 717-877-4146.
